Volunteering

We greatly benefit from regular volunteers. If you are seeking a volunteer opportunity for a group, please call or e-mail Mary Brown to discuss (612-721-6294 ext. 115; mbrown(at)hopeschool.org). (NOTE: you can also use the form at the right).

If you're an individual interested in volunteering with JumpStart (see below) or other regular opportunities, just follow these three steps.

1) Download and complete these two forms:

- Volunteer Sign-Up & Guidelines (PDF)
- Background Check Release Form (PDF).

2) Mail, fax (612-722-9048), or bring these forms in to the school.

3) Contact Mary Brown, Volunteer Coordinator, to schedule a brief volunteer orientation.

If you're interested, but can't commit just yet, then sign up for Volunteer newsletter!

SUMMER SESSION 2010

Summer Session (8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)

  • June 14-17 (Mon-Thur)
  • June 21-24 (Mon-Thur)
  • June 28-July 1 (Mon-Thur)
  • July 6-9 (Tues-Fri)

If you are interested in working with students in grades K-5, let Mary Brown know when you are available to help. Here are some specific ways you can serve our Upper School (grades 6-11) this summer.

Volunteer Opportunities (Grades 6-11)

  • 8:30 - 10:30 = Math Tutoring - There are about 12-15 middle school students who are behind in math who will be working with Mr. Ziegler to catch up.  Come help provide some tutoring for these students.
    • 8:30 - 9:00 = Devotions with the students (I will lead this).
    • 9:00 - 10:15 = Math Tutoring
    • 10:15 - 10:30 = Math Games with the Students
  • 10:30-12:30 = Cooking Workshop (see note below) - Help with this elective class taught by Mr. Gregg and Mr. Andersen.  Middle and High School students will be walking to Mr. Gregg and Mr. Andersen's house each day for cooking classes.  Come help give some students the skills to cook on their own!
  • 10:30-12:30 = Woodshop 101(see note below) - Students will be learning how to build their own shelves in Mr. Johnson's Woodworking class.  Come help the students learning how to use power tools during this exciting class.
  • 10:30-12:30 = Music in Motion (see note below) - Students will be putting on a "Mini Musical" for their peers at the conclusion of this class.  Come help the students in Mrs. TeWinkel's class perfect their lines.

NOTE: Each of the 10:30-12:30 enrichment classes run for 2 weeks.  If you would like 2 different experiences, you could choose one course from June 14-24 and another one from June 28-July 9.
